The 3 Day gives you a virtual training coach. Each week we get a workout plan with a weekly goal for mileage to accomplish. The 3 to 6 mile walks were coming pretty easy. I can honestly say I have not really dreaded any of them. I have walked at all times of the day and evening, and have seen some pretty sunrises and some pretty sunsets. I have seen lots of ants, worms, bird poop, cut grass, cement, cracks in the roads, sprinklers, and cars. Thank goodness for my Garmin watch that measures my mileage, that purchase has made the distance problem free. No more driving around measuring before or after the distance. The one thing for sure I have figured out the further out I go on the way out the more likely I will get in my distance, cause you have to come back.
I now have two weeks of significant weekly mileage under my belt or on my feet as it would be. 10 miles or greater is a whole new world. My feet have been the biggest challenge. Feet are the sensitive picky body part for me, because they go into shoes, and shoes are tough. Too small when your feet swell, to big then the heels slip and cause motion which leads to blisters. Just when they get healed then it is time for another LONG walk. So in all things related to this adventure I am looking for some insight or truth; so what has been my thoughts growing out of my feet……… Even when I have a burning pain in my foot it is so insignificant to the pain at Calvary. WOW I thought as I took every step and a sharp ache would move through my foot, I realized it was nothing. I thought of the women and girls who walk daily 3 to 5 miles one way to get water for their family and then carry home large jugs full of the life giving necessity. I can now relate to a small portion of their story, but without the consequences if I choose not to walk I can just go to the faucet. Then thinking of how strong Jesus must have been to walk all over Israel how a 10 mile walk would have been nothing for him, and no side walks.
Wish I could do the longer walks with my sister. The last few miles each time I physically am strong, but mentally distracted looking at my watch every few minutes. Playing faster music and even running seems to be refreshing. I have even been listening to David Crowder, Casting Crowns and Brooklyn Tab the heavy driving beats are encouraging.
