I am wide awake at 5 am, not that it is out of the ordinary for a work day, but it’s not a work day and I don’t even have a job any more — imagine that! Actually I am going over in my mind all of the things we/I will need for our trip. Do I have everything?
Then I am imagining each day the heat, the cold, the tent, the water, the people we will meet, the villages we are raising the money for clean water for, the plane ride, the safari, the people who have joined Team Gurian with supporting donations, and those who are joining our team as prayer warriors. I am imagining what God is about to unfold for me as I am confident this is a journey He has sent me on…………can you imagine what this story might unfold for you?
I ran across a picture last week as I was cleaning out my office. It is a picture of Larry and I at least 32 years ago — the last real mountain trek we went on together. We were back packing with some friends on Mt. St. Helens sometime before it started puffing and then blew. I am attaching it for you to see — it should amuse you it did me. Notice we were a bit younger, thinner, and Larry’s beard is much darker. I have on my favorite shirt I bought for 75 cents at a garage sale in college and, our gear was borrowed, very low tech. Before breathable fabrics, light weight gear, and power-bars. In contrast the Dynamic Earth store guys have rigged me with all the highest tech stuff — I will post a picture of us and the new gear also. I have imagined this trip being more prepared from a gear perspective, but still tents & the outdoor bathroom experiences will probably compare similarly – don’t know about the aged bodies!
Going to go back to my “comfortable” bed and see if I can imagine some more in my dreams!

Wow. What an awesome thing you are doing. This is an amazing adventure for such a great cause.
Go Rita and Larry. Loved the picture. Good luck on the climb. Remind Larry that he promised not to kill any elephants. Take a picture from the top and remember to look before you squat. Much love and luck. Barb
