Started the morning drawing close to the Father God through reading of scripture — plugging into my real source of strength and inspiration.  Used Phillip Yancey’s daily devotion – prayer, music, scripture and silence.  The verse “draw close” to Him.

Yes…..that is the word I needed to energize.  —– Off to Work — then closed the day and headed home.

Wanted to walk 5 miles but when I headed out it was a bit later than I realized so it was dark for the last 2.5 miles.  But got 5.53 miles in.  The tennis shoes are all good, I found a new way to lace them and no toe numbness —  too fine.

I was reminded tonight that the advantage of walking in the evening is to get to experience all the good smells of the people cooking out as I move through the neighborhood.  When we did a bicycle vacation in Vermont a number of years ago I remember one of my favorite things was experiencing the vacation with all of my senses.  Walking is much the same way all senses are full on……wind, nature, flowers, bugs, worms, cookout, lawn fertilizer, fresh mowing, mist, lawn sprinklers, cars buzzing by, ……….etc.

More reflection during this lull of inspiration:  Faith is confidence in the Father who has a more excellent way prepared for me, I must lean into it.  My prayer, “Jesus lover of my soul I need the every hour to be the wind beneath my wings in this training, I am slightly off….let me press into you… move me, draw me to you, let me see you.”
